Difference Between Emotional Support Dog Letter & ESA Letter

You may have heard about these two terms “emotional support dog letter” and “ESA letter” but there is nothing to get confused about between them. It is the same thing and has the same text with the same rights.

What Is An ESA Letter?

The ESA letter or emotional support animal letter is a legitimate certificate that describes the mental condition of a person and tells the importance of an emotional support animal in his mental health treatment.

If you get an emotional support letter then you can legally claim your pet an emotional support animal and can avail of the rights of living and flying with your emotional support animal.

The Fair Housing Act (FHA)

Under the Fair Housing Act, people are allowed to live with their emotional support animals. Some buildings do not allow pets and have strict no-pet policies but your emotional support animal is not a pet and the FHA permits ESAs to dwell with their owners even in no-pet building policies. If you want to keep your pet inside your house you should have an ESA letter for housing.

So, if your landlord rejects your ESA, you should present your emotional support animal letter to him, hence he can not refuse you.

Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA)

There are so many people who need to travel a lot for their business purposes or a lot of others. And if you have an emotional support animal and you do not want to leave that cute pup home alone, so what will you do? You know that most of the local and international flights do not allow pets.

Find yourself lucky! Emotional support animals are allowed to fly with their owners on some national and international airlines. However, terms and conditions may apply. But you can only claim your pet an ESA if you have a legitimate ESA letter.

Why Emotional Support Animals Are Superior to Pets?

Emotional support animals are given more freedom and advantages than pets because they are on duty to provide love, comfort, and satisfaction to their owners. They need to be with their owners to make them mentally stable or to overcome panic attacks or anxiety episodes.

Therefore, the emotional support animal letter gives them the right to live in and fly with their owners to handle their mental health problems.

What Are Emotional Support Animals?

Animals that provide support, comfort, and companionship to their holders and help them to calm their anxiety, depression, and stress are known as emotional support animals. If you have other creatures, you should have an emotional support dog letter.

If you’re thinking about how animals can help someone to reduce his anxiety and stress then you may be surprised to know that science has proved it.

Science has demonstrated this fact. When a person keeps an animal on his lap or closes to his body, it helps him to calm his heartbeat and blood pressure. You may have an idea that people with mental ailments often experience fast heartbeat and high blood pressure which also causes an atypical situation.

In this case, emotional support animals assist them to get back to normal physical and mental conditions which sometimes might not be obtained even by taking medicines.

Is There Some Special Kind Of Animals That Make ESA?

Obviously No! Any type of animal or species is eligible to sign up for the title of an emotional support animal. However, it depends on the person who is suffering from mental ailments.

If you are prescribed to keep an emotional support animal and you already own a dog or a cat or any other animal and you get emotional support from him then you can register that pet as your emotional support animal. Even there are people who have exotic animals such as snakes, lizards, bearded dragons, etc as their emotional support animals. If you do not have an ESA letter you can apply for an ESA letter online.
