David O'Brien Jr., MD currently serves as Director of Physiatry & Rehab services at Orthopaedic Specialists of the Carolina’s, Winston-Salem, NC. He is the Director of their interventional spine fellowship and serves as Section Chief of Physiatry for Forsyth Memorial Hospital. Dr. O’Brien is an adjunct Associate Professor for the University of North Carolina School Of Medicine and holds 4 Board Certifications in Physiatry, Pain Medicine, Sports Medicine and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He has published a number of articles and book chapters on the subject of spine care, medical coding and healthcare policy. He has served as course director and/or instructor for numerous NASS injection courses and conferences. Dr. O’Brien is the NASS alternate advisor to the AMA-CPT and has worked on numerous CPT and RUC-related projects and proposals, society position statements, local and national coverage determination policies.
