Joseph S. Cheng, MD, MS is Associate Professor of Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, and Director of the Neurosurgery Spine Program. He completed his Neurosurgical training in 2001 and continued on for a Fellowship in Complex Spinal Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. During that time, he also received a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at Marquette University with a special emphasis in spinal biomechanics and modeling. He has been an active NASS member and has been previous Vice-Chair of the Coding and Reimbursement Committee, Chair of the Public Affairs Committee along with Chair of the Professional, Economic & Regulatory Committee. Currently, he is the Section Development Chair for NASS. He is active in clinical practice and research, and directs the Spine Surgery Fellowship program at Vanderbilt University.
